Damansky-Zhen Bao Island
Damansky Island (Russian: о́стров Дама́нский) or Zhen Bao Island (Chinese: 珍宝岛 means: Precious) is a small island of 0.74 km² in the Ussuri River on the border between Russia and the People's Republic of China. It was a matter of dispute whether it belongs to Soviet Union or to China. On May 19, 1991 the sides agreed that the island belongs to China.
Battles with considerable loss of life were fought by the Soviet Union and China over this island during the Sino-Soviet border conflict of 1969.
A Russian documentary movie "Остров Даманский. 1969 год" was made interviewing participants and leaders from both sides.
