X-ray microscopy

X-ray microscopy is a type of microscopy which uses X-rays for image production.

One advantage of X-rays is the shorter wavelength which yields higher resolutions. Additionally, the interaction betweem X-rays and matter differs from the interaction with other types of radiation or particles (as in electron microscopy), so X-ray microscopy can give additional informations about a sample.

Fresnel zone plates are commonly used as focussing elements.
