WrestleMania XVI

(Redirected from WrestleMania 2000)

Wrestlemania XVI (or WrestleMania 2000) was the 16th annual WrestleMania by World Wrestling Entertainment. The event was held at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California on 2 April, 2000. The main event was a Fatal 4 Way Elimination Match for the WWE Championship involving Triple H, The Rock, Mick Foley and the Big Show. Triple H won the match and retained the championship. The event featured eight other matches, including a Two Fall Triple Threat Match for the WWE Intercontinental and European championships between Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. Also in the card was Triangle Ladder Match between the Dudley Boyz, Edge and Christian and The Hardy Boyz.

This event marked the first time a champion lost two titles in a single match without ever being pinned when Kurt Angle lost both the Intercontinental and European Titles to Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho respectively. This event is also interesting as it has been referred to with two different names, WrestleMania 2000 and, more currently, WrestleMania XVI
