The racial makeup of the CDP is 16.06% White, 44.91% African American, 0.72% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, 34.98% from other races, and 2.94% from two or more races. 53.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 8,476 households out of which 47.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.5% are married couples living together, 29.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.5% are non-families. 16.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
