Wigan Borough F.C.
Wigan Borough F.C. was an English football club. It entered the Football League's new Third Division North for the 1921–22 season, having previously being members of the Northern League, and spent ten years at this level before being resigning from the league during the 1931–2 season. They were replaced by Chester F.C.. Wigan Borough soon went out of business and a new club, Wigan Athletic, was formed, although they did not gain membership of the Football League until 1978.
Borough played their home games at Springfield Park in the town of Wigan. The ground remained in use by Wigan Athletic until the end of the 1998–99 season, when the JJB Stadium was built at Robin Park and Wigan Athletic relocated there to groundshare with Wigan RLC.
