Wiederbewaffnung

The Wiederbewaffnung (German: Rearmament) referrs to the foundation of the Bundeswehr, the West German army in 1955. It was heavilly discussed in Germany, just 10 years after the defeat in World War II. After an amendment of the constitution ("Grundgesetz", Basic Law) West Germany became a member of NATO in 1955.
