Wide Awake
Wide Awake is a 1998 film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. In this comedy about growing up, Joshua Beal (played by Joseph Cross) is a young boy who goes on a search for God after his grandfather dies. This film also features Julia Stiles in one of her earliest roles.
The film was nominated for "Best Family Feature – Drama" and "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actor" at the 1999 Young Artist Awards.
It is the only Shyamalan-directed film to date in which the director does not make a cameo appearance.
