(Redirected from What is pitman arm)

The Pitman arm in a car is the arm connected to the steering box sector shaft that moves side to side to steer the wheels. It transmits the motion it receives from the gear into the linkage, causing the linkage to move left or right to turn the wheels in the appropriate direction.
