What Have You Done For Me Lately

"What Have You Done For Me Lately" was a 1986 hit song for pop and R&B musician Janet Jackson. It was the first big hit for the young Jackson's career after several years releasing duds. The song talked of a relationship gone bad with the man apparently not doing enough to please the author right leading the singer to ask that question: What have you done for me lately? The song became a breakout smash landing at #4 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #1 on its R&B singles chart. It was produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and co-produced and lyrically composed by Jackson. It reached No.3 in the UK, and hit Platinum and No.1 in Holland in 1986.

The Gold certifed single song earned a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 1987, the single also won a Soul Train Award for Best Music Video.
