Whaley House

Whaley House in 1908

Whaley House is one of Marshall, Texas's landmark Victorian homes. Built by Paul G. Whaley, a prominent local businessman, in 1886, it reflects the grand opulence of the Victorian era, as tastes shifted from clutter towards elegance. All of the original leaded glass transoms and windows are in place, and the woodwork and floors remain unpainted, finished in a dark glowing patina of cared for antiquity.

This magnificent 24 room structure highlights original leaded glass transoms, seven hand carved fireplace mantels, egg and dart trim, beamed ceilings, cut glass French doors, polished wood columns and oak flooring.

Present-day Whaley House, now the Three Oaks Bed & Breakfast

Located one-half block from the restored historic T&P Depot with the Texas & Pacific Railway Museum and the beautiful Ginocchio Hotel. Within a short walking distance are the historic Courthouse and museum, the Michelson Museum of Art, restaurants, pottery, antique, and craft shops in downtown Marshall. Just across the street is the beautiful and interesting Allen House, owned by the Conservation Society and available for group tours.
