The Wexford parliamentary constituency spans the entire area of the county in Leinster, taking in Wexford, New Ross and Gorey. The constituency has an electorate of 94,969 and at present is served by 5 Teachtaí Dála (TDs). The method of election is the Single Transferable Vote.
One of the most high profile TDs in the constituency is Brendan Howlin, the former deputy-leader of the Labour Party. He follows in the footsteps of the former Labour leader and Tánaiste, Brendan Corish, who served the area for many years. Liam Twomey, who was elected as an Independent, has subsequently become a member of Fine Gael.
