WBUQ FM 91.1 The Revolution
WBUQ is a 600 watt non-commercial, educational radio station operating at FM 91.1 MHz. WBUQ is run by the Radio Broadcasting Club (RBC). The purpose of the RBC is to provide a means of student training and experience in radio broadcasting, to provide a means of entertainment and information for the student body and community, to serve the public interest, and to be an instrument of expression for student, faculty and community opinion, in accordance with the rules of the FCC.
At the beginning of each semester, the WBUQ Executive Staff holds a general meeting for students who are interested in being a DJ. Show openings are available for a wide variety of students. WBUQ gives students the opportunity to work, hands on, with new digital broadcasting equipment.
WBUQ is grateful to the students and people of Bloomsburg, friends, family, contributors, and record companies for years of support.
BRIEF TIMELINE of WBUQ FM
1969 – Station suggested to Bloomsburg State College President
1972 – Hearing to determine FM frequency
1974 – Radio committee meets to determine possible location
1985 – September 16 – WBUQ On Air
2002 – WBUQ receives new digital equipment and broadcasts 24 hrs/day
2003 – WBUQ dedicated to retired professor William A. Acierno, the leading force in the creation of the station
