Way of life

A way of life is a common term which describes the lifestyle of an entire culture.

In political rhetoric, it is used euphemistically to refer to all or most current aspects of life within that society as a venerable form of lifestyle, and therefore deserving of preservation and defense.

In the context of the War against terrorism of the West against militarist dissidents of Islamic or Arab nationalism, the term "way of life" tends to generalize the assertion that the defense of the national homeland, of U.S. "assets", as well as its common culture are all intertwined with the concepts of lifestyle. Implied in the term lifestyle are aspects of materialism and luxury — in the context of wars in the Middle East, a reasonable connection can be drawn between the materialist possession of petroleum, and the lifestyle connotations of that materialist possessiveness.
