Wailmer's nostrils are located above its eyes. This playful Pokémon loves to startle people by forcefully snorting out seawater out of its nostrils that it stores inside its body.
Wailmer uses the water inside its body to transform itself into a ball that for bouncing along the ground. By filling itself up with more water, this Pokémon can elevate the height of its bounces.

Wailmer's name is relatively obvious, being composed of a misspelling of 'whale' and the 'mer' from 'emerge', a reference to its tendency to appear out of nowhere in the ocean all of sudden.
