Wabash and Erie Canal

(Redirected from Wabash-Erie canal)

The Wabash and Erie Canal was a shipping canal in Indiana that linked the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River via a man-made waterway.

After Congress provided a land grant in 1827 for the canal's construction, it was operated by the Wabash and Erie Canal Company between 1833 and 1877.
