Wa State is in Myanmar(Burma). estimated 558,000 population in Myanmar. Some Wa live in China. They have head amputation habit in their tribe since AD8. Their territory was isolated by all kind of kingdom such as Chinese, Burmese and latest by British rulers because Wa leaders are animist and head amputation tradition.

But, Burmese Communist Party (supported by China), losed control in the Mainland Burma area and based on the Wa territory because Wa people can be trained as communist.

Later, Wa leader rebelled to Communist and declared Wa states. Communist collepsed in Burma and Wa army has peace agreement with Burmese Military Government. Strong Wa army continued opnion business in their territory (Wa people claimed that their soil is bad and only good enough to grow poppy which produced drug (opnion).

Most of Wa people are non-educated and they are animist. Now religious mission such as Buddhist, Christian are working for reginal development. Their head amputation habbit was almost ended but still practised in some places.
