Voltorb is a spherical-shaped Electric type Pokémon from the Pokémon series of games. It resembles a pokéball with a face and without a button or hinge. Some people have been electrocuted by them, mistaking them for pokéballs. Voltorbs store compressed elecrtrical energy, and are unstable as is; they become even more unstable when they evolve into Electrode. It is said that Voltorb became a Pokémon when a pokéball was exposed to a blast of electrical energy. Voltorb have no gender. Its name comes from the obvious: Volt (electricity) and orb (as it is a sphere).
