Vladimir Konovalov
Captain Vladimir K. Konovalov was the captain of the Soviet Navy submarine L-3. On April 16, 1945, the L-3 sunk the German refugee ship, the Goya with at least 7,000 people drowned and 172 people saved.
For this episode, Konovalov was awarded the honorary title of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
