Violin Concerto No. 3 (Mozart)
In Salzburg Mozart composed a number of concertos for garden parties, weddings, birthdays or home concerts for friends and patrons. The most popular was the Violin Concerto No.3 in G Major K.216, composed in 1775. It is a classic blending of his Italian-influenced simplicity and courtly charm and German awarness of counterpoint and polyphony. The movements are: 1. Allegro, 2. Adagio, 3. Rondeau.
The second movement is famous for its beautiful theme.
It is sometimes called the "Strassburg" Concerto for its "Strassburer" tune in the Rondo.
