The National Commission on Political Imprisonment and Torture, also known as the Valech Commission, was created in August 2003 at the request of Chilean President Ricardo Lagos to gather testimonies by those who were imprisoned and tortured under the Augusto Pinochet regime. The commission, headed by Bishop Sergio Valech, released a report in November 2004, with the results of the 6 month investigation. See Valech Report.
