Valdeguié

The Valdeguié white wine grape variety is grown in France and the U.S. where it is known as Napa Gamay in California. Napa Gamay is not related to the famous Gamay of Beaujolais, and the name is being phased out to avoid confusion. It will not be allowed on U.S. wine labels after 2007.

While Valdeguié in France has a poor reputation as a workhorse variety grown to attract grants from the EU who promptly turn it into industrial alcohol, some California Napa Gamay wines are most pleasant.
