Val Cooper

Valerie "Val" Cooper is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe. A non-mutant human, she serves as the mutant liaison in the United States government. Though a friend of many of the X-Men and generally sympathetic to mutant rights and the superhuman community, she has sometimes been forced by the politics of her position to assume stances in opposition to superhero groups.

Some of the more notable roles she has played include:

• managing X-Factor
• taking Professor X away to a government facility (where he would be, though she did not know at the time, imprisoned by Bastion) following the Onslaught Saga
