Vakhtang II of Georgia
Vakhtang II (d. 1292), of the House of Bagrationi, was king of Georgia in 1289-1292.
Son of David VI Narin by his first wife Tamar, daughter of Amanelisdze, he succeeded his cousin Demetre II who was executed by the Ilkhanate Mongols in 1289. Loyal to the Mongol rule, he governed only the eastern part of Georgia, while the western country was ruled by his father David VI Narin (until 1293), and later his brother Constantine I (1293-1327).
His cousin David VIII succeeded on his death in 1292. He was buried at Gelati Monastery, Kutaisi.
