The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords subseries characters

(Redirected from Vaati)

Vaati

Vaati is a major antagonist from the Legend of Zelda series. He has replaced Ganon as the primary villain and final boss in the games Four Swords (GBA), Four Swords Adventures (Gamecube), and The Minish Cap (GBA). His most common appearance is a black orb with one single eye.

In Four Swords Adventures, it is explained that, long ago, Vaati the Wind Sorcerer was an evil wind mage who uses his powers to terrorize the villagers of Hyrule. He always won against his opponents but one day, he lost to the four identical warriors. He was sealed in the sword for many years. At last, he broke free from the seal and escaped. He took Princess Zelda with him. Link took the Four Sword and chased after him. However when Link drew the Four Sword he created (or released? It is unclear) the evil Shadow Link, who follows him around and tries to stop him. But in the end Link defeats Vaati and seals him back inside the sword.

In The Minish Cap, which takes place before Four Swords Adventures, Vaati appears as a young Sorcerer with powerful magic, who one day unleashes monsters upon Hyrule and turns Princess Zelda into stone. He appears several times throughout the game to taunt the hero Link, and is usually accompanied by his dedicated sound effect, a high-pitched laugh. Later in the game, it is revealed that Vaati was once a Picori apprentice who became corrupted by greed, and who used the Mage's Cap (a creation of his master) to transform himself into a human sorceror. Vaati wants ultimate power, and seeks to obtain the mystical Light Force that gives the Hyrulean royal family their power. Vaati steals most of the Light Force from Princess Zelda, and uses it to transform himself into his current form, a large black orb with a single eye. However, despite his newfound power, Vaati is defeated by Link and sealed within the Picori Blade, which came to be known as the Four Sword.
