Vaadwaur

In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Vaadwaur are a militaristic, expanding alien race originating in the Delta Quadrant. Facing a losing battle with a neighboring species, the Turei, the Vaadwaur placed themselves into hibernation on their homeworld (the surface of which was subsequently destroyed by heavy Turei orbital bombardment). In the 24th century, crewmembers from the USS Voyager were attacked by Turei starships and landed on the Vaadwaur homeworld, and the surviving Vaadwaur were awakened from stasis – whereupon they quickly resumed their war with the Turei.

In their early history, the Vaadwaur had encountered many other species, such as the Talaxian race. The contacts did not go well; indeed, the word 'Vaadwaur' eventually found its way into the Talaxian language as a term for "foolish" or "blundering".
