V&S Group

V&S Group is a Swedish-government-owned producer and distributor of alcoholic beverages. Until 1994 it had the position of a national monopoly for distribution and production, but this was abolished when Sweden joined the European Union in 1995. The Swedish alcohol retailing monopoly, operated by Systembolaget, is however still in force. The acronym V&S comes from the earlier name Vin & Sprit, literally "Wine & Spirits".

Absolut Vodka is probably the most successful brand launched by the group to date.
