Uzbekistani Som

The currency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Central Asia. There are denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Som.

The currency code is 'UZS'. 1 UZS is equal to 0.0007 Euro.

The word "Som" (sometimes transliterated "Sum" or "Soum") means pure in Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uyghur, Uzbek as well as many other Turkic languages. The word implies pure gold. The Soviet ruble was called "Som" in Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Uzbek which are written on the back of the notes.
