Use map settings
""use map settings"" is a word used in Blizzard games StarCraft and WarCraft to describe custom tailored maps. In StarCraft especially, UMS (use map settings) maps are wildly popular. There are several types of UMS maps.
1) D (stands for defense) in a D map, large masses of enemy units, usually yellow or white in color, will attempt to get to a certain area on the map. It is the job of the players to prevent this from happening. Such maps include Sunken D, Turret D, and Matrix Bullet Time
2) Masser In a masser, every few seconds each player gets several units in their area. Throughout the course of the game, they pit these units against those of the other players to see who can get most kills. These maps utilize the massfunction more than any other UMS maps. Several massers are Zone Control, Bunker Wars, and Zergling Blood. More advanced massers, like Zoids, feature upgrades you can get for certain amounts of kills or special tasks the player performs.
3) RPG RPG stands for role playing game and refers to a specific type of game where players take up the role of different characters and reinact battles, trying to tip the scales for their side. Popular RPGs are Helms Deep and Minas Tirith.
4) Bound In a bound, players must get through a maze of traps and enemies. It requires timing and a good eye. Some of the best bounds are Jail Break Run, Trinity Bound, and Squirrel Bound.
5) Other There are a few other types of UMS maps, like S N I P E R S, which fits into none of the above categories.
