Urawa-ku, Saitama

Urawa (浦和区; -ku) is a ward (pop. 137,500) of Saitama, Saitama, Japan. It houses most of the city's administrative offices, as well as the prefectural offices of Saitama Prefecture.

Before the merger that created the city of Saitama in May 2001, Urawa was a distinct city (pop. 442,300 [2000]) with larger area. In April 2003 Saitama became a city designated by government ordinance, Urawa's area was sectored into Urawa-ku, Midori-ku, Minami-ku and Sakura-ku.
