Upper Iowa River

The Upper Iowa River is a tributary of the Mississippi River in the upper Midwest of the United States.

Its headwaters are in southeastern Minnesota, in Minnesota near the border with Iowa, through which it flows for most of its length.

It flows in a meandering direction, roughly eastward along the northern border of Iowa through the hill county, passing through the town of Decorah, Iowa, before emptying into the Mississippi in the extreme northeastern corner of Iowa in Allamakee County.
