The University of South Australia (commonly known as UniSA) was formed in 1991 when the State Government unified South Australia's Colleges of Advanced Education through the University of South Australia Act 1991.
UniSA was a joint founder of the Australian Technology Network (ATN) with Curtin University of Technology, RMIT University, University of Technology Sydney and Queensland University of Technology.
There are two campuses in the Adelaide central business district, known as City East and City West. There are metropolitan campuses at Mawson Lakes (formerly The Levels) and Magill with a country campus at Whyalla. Campuses at Salisbury and Underdale were closed and the programmes moved to the remaining campuses.
