Suzuki Umetaro

Suzuki Umetaro (鈴木 梅太郎 Suzuki Umetarō, April 7, 1874 – September 20, 1943) was a Japanese scientist. When researching the effects of rice bran in curing patients of Beriberi, he discovered and received patent rights to aberic acid, which later became known as Vitamin B1. His research was the beginning of modern vitamin categorization.
