Ulalume

"Ulalume" is a poem written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1847. Much like a few of Poe's other poems (such as "The Raven", "Annabel Lee", and "Lenore"), "Ulalume" focuses on the narrarator's loss of a beautiful woman due to her untimely death.

The narrarator contemplates the fact that it brings him happiness to think that his fair lady will come back from death. However, he knows that such hope is false and that with it, he is only chasing a unreachable star.
