Tzaribrod

Tzaribrod (aka Dimitrovgrad) is a town in Eastern Serbia. Historically, it is a part of the Western Bulgarian Fringe (Zapadni Bulgarski Pokraynini), a region which Serbia gained from Bulgaria starting with the 1877–1878 Russian-Turkish War. The town is populated mainly with ethnic Bulgarians. The previous governments in Belgrade neglected the area, which led to mass unemployment and low living standards. After the fall of the Milosevic regime, the Tzaribrod inhabitants have started to organize as a cultural community.
