Tyrian (game)

(Redirected from Tyrian (Computer Game))

Tyrian is a computer game released in 1995 by Epic Megagames. The soundtrack is the work of Alexander Brandon and Andreas Molnar.

Tyrian is an arcade-style shooter game that follows the classic concept of bottom-to-top scrolling. The player(s) control a space ship that can be fitted with different weapons and enhanced energy shields, provided enough cash is available. The game is fast paced and presents a host of enemies and bosses. There are several difficulties to choose between and there is an option to play co-operatively with a friend.

In the Arcade Mode, the player picks up weapons and power-ups along the way. The other mode enables the player to collect cash and buy weapons and equipment in interlevel menus. This mode also includes story-related messages for the player to read.

In 1999, the game was rereleased as Tyrian 2000—the original game including patches and a new episode. Tyrian 2000 is compatible with Windows 2000, ME, and XP, as well as 95 and 98.

Tyrian 2

Tyrian 2 is a sequel to Tyrian that is allegedly under development. Common opinion is that Tyrian 2 is vaporware and a myth. Tyrian 2000 is occasionally confused with Tyrian 2. Some people also use Tyrian 2 to refer to a barely started project by budding programmer Matthew Ghingold.
