Tyrande Whisperwind
Tyrande Whisperwind is a Night Elf priestess from the Warcraft Universe. She first appeared in the video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
Tyrande fought during the First Invasion of the Burning Legion, and was present at the destruction of the original Well of Eternity. She was long the love interest of both Malfurion Stormrage and his brother Illidan, though it was Malfurion to whom she returned the affection. It could be suggested that her rejection of Illidan is what led him to betray the other Night Elves and recreate the Well of Eternity, though his addiction to arcane magic undoubtedly contributed.
When Malfurion Stormrage entered a deep sleep along with the other druids, she continued to keep watch over Kalimdor. It was she that encountered the humans and orcs that had come to flee from Lordaeron, and it was she that woke Malfurion to seek his guidance.
Against Malfurion's wishes though, she also released Illidan from his imprisonment, killing several Wardens in the process (something for which Maiev Shadowsong has not forgiven her). Illidan's presence helped for a while before his desire for power (as well as intervention by Arthas) led him to consume the Skull of Gul'Dan.
Tyrande was present at the Battle of Mount Hyjal, in which the demon Archimonde was destroyed along with the World Tree, thus effectively ending the Second Invasion of the Burning Legion.
