Types of Zombies

There are many kinds of the undead in fiction.

  • Common Zombies – These reanimated corpses just lamber around slowly, looking for flesh to devour upon and if. They are featured in most fiction are how they are created varies, but mostly from a virus, and that whoever is bitten by a zombie, he/she will in time become one as well.
  • Rage Zombies – Featured in 28 Days Later, this type of zombie isn't actually dead, but rather a human or animal infected with the virus known as Rage. These send the victim into a permanent, violent homicidal rage, which takes place seconds after infection, from a bite or cut. Rage Zombies will eventually starve to death from forgetting how to eat, but until then they are very dangerous.
  • Former Humans – Featured in the Doom computer games. Besides common zombies (featured only in Doom 3), there are the Z-Sec, zombies who move around faster and carry weaponry, but are still un-intelligent as their strategy is to just charge at you and side-step. These creatures are created when they are possessed by Hell. How the Z-Sec differ from the other zombies is unknown.
  • The undead featured in the remake of Dawn of the Dead. These are a mix of the common zombie with the concept of the Rage Zombie ie fast moving and full of adrenline.
