Tyne-Tees Regiment
The Tyne-Tees Regiment is a regiment of the British Territorial Army.
History
The Regiment was formed in 1999 by the amalgamation of the 6th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (Volunteers), 4th/5th Battalion The Green Howards (Yorkshire Volunteers) and 7th Battalion, The Light Infantry due to the implementation of the reforms of the Territorial Army envisaged in the Strategic Defence Review. The HQ is based at Durham and the Regiment is comprised of 5 companies:
- A (Green Howards) Company
- B (Green Howards) Company
- C (Durham Light Infantry) Company
- X (Fusilier) Company
- Z (Fusilier) Company
The Regiment is part of 15 (North East) Brigade and is presently the Territorial unit of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. In 2003 a composite company was dispatched to Iraq. In 2004 a platoon was deployed to Iraq as part of a company of the East and West Riding Regiment
As part of the restructuring of the infantry announced in [[2004], it is envisaged that the Tyne-Tees Regiment will be broken up, with its constituent companies going to their parent regiments:
- A & B Companies will likely form part of the 4th (V) Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment
- X & Z Companies will form part of the 3rd (V) Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers
- C Company will form part of the 4th (V) Battalion, Light Infantry
