Tour de Farce: American History and Other Unrelated Subjects

Tour de Frace: American History and Other Unrelated Subjects, the sixth comedy album by the Smothers Brothers (released November 1, 1964 on Mercury Records). Record a The Ice House, Pasedena, California. The back of the album contains the note: "For special enjoyment, try playing your old Smothers Brothers albums at 45 rpm."

  1. "Sibling" (3:19) – Tom wants the group to be as big as the Beatles, but they could never have Smothers wigs, so they are going to have plastic ears instead.
  2. "That's My Song" (2:57) – Sung straight.
  3. "American History: II-A" (5:02) – Tom's comments on the Pilgrims and Johnny Appleseed. "American History: I-A" appears on Think Ethnic!
  4. "Mediocre Fred" (1:41) – Tom sings the story of a boring man who becomes more exciting on a full moon.
  5. "Since My Canary Died" (5:40) – A lament for a dead pet.
  6. "American History: II-B" (5:27 – Tom continues his disserating, this time on Paul Bunyon, Billy the Kid, and George Washington.
  7. "Eskimo Dog" (5:04) – A different take on the folk song "Whiskey in the Jar."
  8. "She's Gone Forever" (3:47) – Another one sung straight by the brothers.
  9. "Life and the Song of Life" (3:35)
  10. "Time and the Song of Time" (1:48)
  11. "Wagon Wheels" (1st pressing only)
  12. "The Military Lovers" (0:50) (1st pressing only) – Tom rewrites the words to "The Marines' Hymn."
  13. "The Put-On Song (1st pressing only)
