Too Late the Hero

Too Late the Hero is a war film released in 1970. It was directed by Robert Aldrich and starred Michael Caine, Cliff Robertson, and Denholm Elliott.

An American officer, who is an interpreter of the Japanese language (played by Robertson) and who has so far avoided combat, is now assigned to some British commandos (led by Elliott's character). The commandos will raid a forward Japanese communications post in the middle of the jungle. After they reach their objective, the movie becomes a psychological thriller as the remaining surviving commandos are hunted by their enemy through the jungle. The movie is unique in that the allied soldiers are shown arguing and hating one another as much as fighting the enemy.
