These are the towns and villages in each district.

Mergers and changes of municipalities

Merger: Oe District (1 October 2004)

The Towns of Kamojima, Kawashima and Yamakawa and the Village of Misato were merged to form the City of Yoshinogawa (Yoshinogawa-Shi). Oe District was dissolved at the moment this merger took effect.

Merger: Northern and eastern Mima District (1 March 2005)

The Towns of Anabuki, Mima and Waki and the Village of Koyadaira were merged to form the City of Mima (Mima-Shi).

The Towns of Handa and Sadamitsu and the Village of Ichiu were merged to form the Town of Tsurugi (Tsurugi-Chō).

The Towns of Awa, Ichiba, Donari and Yoshino are planned to be merged to form the City of Awa (Awa-Shi). Awa District will be dissolved at the moment this merger takes effect.

The Towns of Mino, Ikeda, Ikawa and Yamashiro and the Villages of Higashiiyayama and Nishiiyayama are planned to be merged to form the City of Miyoshi (Miyoshi-Shi).

The Towns of Miyoshi and Mikamo are planned to be merged to form the Town of Higashimiyoshi (Higashimiyoshi-Chō), which will be the only municipality in Miyoshi District.
