Tok Cut-Off

The Tok Cut-Off is a highway between Glennallen, Alaska and Tok, Alaska. It was built in the 1940s and 1950s to connect Tok with the Richardson Highway 25 km (15 miles) north of Glennallen. It was a "cut-off" because it allowed motor travelers coming from the lower United States on the Alaska Highway to travel to Valdez and Anchorage without going further north to Delta Junction and then traveling southeast on the Richardson Highway, saving them about 180 km (120 miles) of driving.

The Tok Cut-Off is 201 km (125 miles) long and is part of Alaska State Highway 1. It is sometimes considered to be part of the Glenn Highway.
