Thug Life Vol. 1
(1994)
Thug Law

Thug Life Vol. 1 was the first release by the group Thug Life, started by 2Pac. The group also featured Big Syke, Macadoshis, Mopreme (Shakur's half-brother) and The Rated R. Most of the lyrical talent in this album focuses on 2Pac, and he certainly shines in at least a few songs. This ten-track album released in 1994 had moderate success, going gold. Thug Life's next album, Thug Law, released after 2Pac's death, was much weaker.

Some of the standouts on this album include: Pour Out A Little Liquor, which has a smooth beat and flow, talking mainly about pouring out that drop of (Malt?) Liquor for your homies. How Long Will They Mourn Me? is a saddening tribute to the killed Thug Life member, Kato. Str8 Ballin has a catchy beat, and can be seen as a start of Tupac's tendency to rap and act with his famously thugged out character.

THUG LIFE has been said to be an obscene backronym [1]
