The Ark (Halo)
The Ark is a mysterious Forerunner facility from which all the Halos can be controlled. In the end of Halo 2, Delta Halo is armed and then unexpectedly shut down, causing it to send a superluminal signal to all other Halos in the galaxy, putting them on standby mode. 343 Guilty Spark informs Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Johnson that the Halos can all be remotely activated from "The Ark". It is speculated that the Forerunner ship Master Chief boards in the end of the game, Earth, someplace on Earth (most likely New Mombasa, East African Protectorate), or its moon may possibly be the location of the Ark. Many fans expect that the Ark will be in the suspected game Halo 3, and may lead to the end of the Human-Covenant and Covenant civil wars, with one of the wars' final battles taking place within this Forerunner facility. It is also believed that the Ark may have sheltered the only surviving Forerunners (who may appear as holographic "spirits" in Halo 3) after Halo's first use, which then evolved into humanity. One possible support fotr this theory is that on the mission Delta Halo in Halo 2, the opening cutscene shows the contint Master Chief lands on. It is shaped like Africa, the believed birthplace of the human race. However, all this is only speculation.
