Thailand at the Summer Olympics
Thailand (THA) had its debut at the Summer Olympic Games in 1952 in Helsinki, Finland. They won their first medal in the 1976 Montreal Games for boxing (Payao Pooltarat, light-flyweight, bronze). Their first gold medal also came from boxing (Somluck Kamsing, featherweight, 1996). Thailand's most successful games to date was the 2004 Games in Athens, where they won 8 medals, including their first medal in taekwondo from Yaowapa Boorapolchai (bronze), and the first gold by a Thai woman (Udomporn Polsak, weightlifting).
