Sziget

The Sziget Festival is Europe's largest music and cultural festival (400,000 visitors), held annually in July or August in Budapest, Hungary. The festival takes place on Óbudai-sziget, an island in the Danube. Now it has about 1000 programmes and 60 venues. This year's festival will be held from 10 to 17 August, 2005.

It has been arranged since 1993. From 1993 to 1995 it was called Diáksziget (Students' Island); from 1996 to 2001 Pepsi Sziget, after its sponsor. Since 2002 it is simply Sziget (island in Hungarian).
