Students' Union Officerships
United Kingdom
Students' union officers are invariably divided into two main types:
- Sabbatical officers, who are paid for taking a year out to be, for example, President of the union.
- Non-sabbatical officers. Generally these are termed 'executive members' or 'council members', although 'council members' need not be officers.
Generally an executive committee will include variants on the following:
- President
- Vice-President (Services) or Services Officer
- Vice-President (Welfare) or Welfare Officer
- Press and Publicity or Communications Officer
- Entertainments, commonly known as Ents Officer
- Academic Affairs or Educational Campaigns Officer
- Women's Officer
- LGB or LGBT Officer
- Secretary
- Equal Opportunities or Liberation Officer
- Clubs & Societies Officer
- Campaigns Officer
