Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of
"Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" is a song which appears on the U2 album All That You Can't Leave Behind. U2's lead singer Bono wrote the song about the suicide of his friend Michael Hutchence. The song is written in the form of an argument about suicide in which Bono tries to convince Hutchence of the act's foolishness. Bono characterized the song as a good old row between friends which he felt guilty that he never got to have with Hutchence.
The music video for the song features an American football game between the Flys (sic) and the Lemons, and contains various inside jokes and references to the band's past. The rookie kicker for the Flys, Paul Hewson (Bono's real name), tries to kick a field goal, but misses. The video shows it over and over again from different perspectives.
Sample lyrics:
- You've got to get yourself together
- You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
- Don't say that later will be better...
The single reached #2 in the UK charts.
