Stipule

The lanceolate-linear stipules of Hibiscus kokio

In botany, stipule refers to the leaflike outgrowth borne on either side of the base of a leafstalk (or petiole). A pair of stipules is considered part of the anatomy of a leaf of a flowering plant, although in many species these are inconspicuous or entirely absent.
