Spyros Kyprianou

Spyros Achilleos Kyprianou (or Cyprianou) (October 28, 1932 – March 12, 2002), Cypriot political figure.

He was the first Cypriot foreign minister 1960–1972; founder of the Democratic Party (Cyprus) 1976, President of Cyprus 1977–1988, speaker of the Cypriot house of representatives 1976–77, 1996–2001. He signed high level agreements with Rauf Denktash in 1979, agreeing on certain guidelines towards a bizonal bicommunal federation in Cyprus.
